Full Job Description

We can be flexible on location but the successful candidate will need to visit contract locations in East Anglia, Southampton & M25 Corridor.

You will be supporting the delivery of several contracts in the South East England area and should has HSE management experience working in the oil & gas sector, or other similar high-hazard sector ideally combined with marine safety experience.

Reporting to the Area Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing timely advice, guidance and support on all HSSE matter with respect to legislation, company policy, management system and client requirements, thereby ensuring that HSSE risks and opportunities are identified and effectively addressed within area of responsibility. Ultimately ensuring that agreed local HSSE objectives are delivered.

The successful candidate will also form part of the Wood Operations HSSE Team and therefore have access to an extensive support network.

  • Support contract level management with the development and maintaining of a HSSE risks and opportunities register, ensuring risks and opportunities are effectively addressed

  • Support the task risk assessment and method statement process ensuring they are consistently deployed

  • Conduct and maintain health risk assessment within area of responsibility ensuring effective controls including health surveillance are communicated and deployed

  • Liaise with Operations Manager and establish HSSE objectives and targets within area of responsibility ensuring performance indicators are used to monitor actual performance

  • Support contract level management to ensure an effective HSSE Execution Plan is maintained, communicated and consistently delivered

  • Ensure HSSE interface requirements are identified and effectively addressed

  • Carry out periodic HSSE performance reviews within area of responsibility ensuring relevant information is reported to internal/external stakeholders, as required

  • Develop annual HSSE improvement plans aligned to Company, Client and business unit objectives

  • Supporting HSSE incident investigations ensuring the appropriate reporting requirements are undertaken and CAIRS kept up to date

  • Facilitate effective communication of key HSSE information to identified stakeholders including key lessons learned from incidents along with best practice

  • Liaise with contract level management to ensure effective HSSE induction is delivered

  • Ensure environmental aspects and impacts are identified and effective arrangements deployed to minimize adverse environmental impact

  • Support Supply Chain and Commercial teams ensuring Contractor HSSE Management requirements are integrated into the contractor evaluation selection and onboarding mechanisms

  • Ensure a risk-based audit surveillance program is developed, maintained and implemented within the area of responsibility

  • Ensuring that emergency response arrangements are in place and communicated to all personnel with a clear interface into Wood requirements

  • Support contract level management to ensure effective participation at contract HSSE meetings, workshops and forums

  • Promoting workforce involvement in all HSSE activities, initiatives and programs

  • Assist with the identification of HSSE training needs and monitor delivery and recording Liaising with and building positive relationships with Client, Sub Contractor and Employee stakeholders, as required

    NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)

  • NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable)

  • C&G, ONC/HNC or equivalent in Technical, HSSE or related industry (desirable)

  • Member of a recognised safety-related institute such as IOSH or IIRSM (desirable)

  • Experiences in a technical role or practicing HSSE role

  • Some experience or knowledge of offshore and marine safety requirements (including legal requirements)

  • Some experience or knowledge of driving cultural improvements

  • Solid investigatory and analytical skills with experience of a recognised root cause analysis tool preferred

  • Some experience supporting a multi contract / location business

  • Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise Competent Microsoft Office Suite User

  • , Effective 2-way communicator, comfortable with presentation of HSSE information and programmes at all levels of the organisation.

  • Comfortable in both client and other 3rd party environments; able to build exemplary working relationships with client and other stakeholders.
