Full Job Description

The Primary Care Careers team is well established in the NHS primary care environment and is now ready to position itself as a strategic partner to integrated care boards (ICBs) in delivering the desired outcomes of national agendas, such as the NHS Long Term Plan, at a local level.

Working within the Primary Care Careers team, the recruitment officer will support the delivery of an innovative and high quality, end to end recruitment service to GP practices and primary care networks (PCNs) across England. the role is offered on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2025 on a remote basis with flexible working options.

Operating in a fast paced and challenging environment, using innovative and creative methods to attract candidates, the role will include supporting customers, candidates, stakeholders and colleagues.

The main duties include:

  • Support the delivery of sustainable solutions for current and future, permanent and temporary workforce recruitment challenges, across the customer base.

  • Contribute to the delivery of a robust recruitment plan (linked to the Primary Care Careers Strategy).

  • Responsible for tracking the entire recruitment journey from vacancy through to employment and regularly updating colleagues and customers with progress reports.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders and candidates to deliver high levels of customer service.

  • Provide support to hiring managers, candidates and stakeholders during the recruitment process.

  • Maintain knowledge of the candidate market, executing creative and innovative methods to attract a diverse range of applications.

  • Support the organisation and delivery of candidate attraction events and recruiter workshops.

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of all PCC systems, to deliver an efficient recruitment process and ensure accurate data is held and distributed.

  • Work closely with the systems development manager to maintain and operate PCC systems.

  • Work closely with the communication and engagement lead to support recruitment campaigns and engagement.

  • Undertake specific projects to support the delivery of key objectives and strategic work streams.

    You will have the following skills & experience:
  • Knowledge of a range of administrative and HR procedures, acquired through relevant training and experience to diploma, CIPD equivalent level.

  • Experience of Recruitment systems and processes with the ability to provide administrative support within a workplace environment

  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work in partnership with a range of organisations and individuals

  • Provide and receive routine, complex or sensitive information, requiring tact or persuasive skills.

  • Regular requirement to use software to create reports; maintain one or more information systems, significant job responsibility.

  • Works within policies and procedures; operates on own initiative, takes advice from manager when required.

  • Good IT skills, proficient use of MS Office packages and an understanding of recruitment systems.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload with good planning skills.

  • Strong time management skills, with an ability to work quickly and accurately to deadlines.

  • Able to work within a team to deliver tasks and projects.

  • Responds flexibly to changing demands.

  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.

  • Calm and focused under pressure with the ability to work in a confidential environment.

  • Confident and approachable demeanour.
