An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Public Health team for a Recovery Hub Engagement Officer

to facilitate the development of The Recovery Hub.

The Recovery Hub will serve as a physical venue to enable people with both direct and indirect lived experience of substance use disorders to have an important role in supporting York residents to enter, establish and sustain recovery; along with also providing support around the impact of someone else's substance use. The post holder will work to the Public Health Specialist Practitioner Drug and Alcohol portfolio lead and will ensure that the correct processes, policies and communications are in place for the Recovery Hub to be a successful new initiative.

This post is fixed term for 1 year, internal secondment opportunity can be considered (relevant HR policies apply).

  • experience of working with and listening to vulnerable population groups.

  • Commitment to facilitating peer support for people seeking/in recovery from substance use disorders.

  • Have great communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders and partners.

  • Have a strong organised style, good time management and an ability to work to deadlines and under pressure., As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
