Full Job Description

As Duel's second dedicated QA Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality assurance processes and methodologies for an industry-defining product., Throughout the software development life cycle, as a QA Engineer at Duel, your primary objective and focus will be to use both manual testing and automation to identify software defects, ensure the functionality meets specifications and guarantee an exceptional user experience.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Developers, Product Managers and Business Analysts to understand project requirements and translate them into comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.

  • Execute functional, regression and performance tests to identify defects and ensure the software meets quality standards.

  • Design, develop and maintain frontend UI automated test scripts with Playwright and API automated tests with Postman

  • Document and monitor automated test coverage, including analysing and troubleshooting test failures and flaky tests

  • Conduct thorough manual testing to validate the functionality, usability, and overall quality of changes to the application

  • Document and communicate test results, defects and overall test status, ensuring clear and concise reporting

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, providing valuable input and advocating for quality throughout the development cycle

  • Collaborate with our QA Lead and Developers on wider testing strategies

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging trends, and new technologies related to quality assurance and testing

    We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical QA Engineer to join our dynamic MarTech Startup., We're looking for someone who thrives in ensuring top-notch quality and reliability in every product we deliver.   • Solid knowledge of software testing principles, techniques and tools, including the software testing lifecycle

  • Experience owning automated UI tests, including design, development, execution and maintenance

  • Experience with designing and automating API tests

  • Proficient in one or more programming or scripting languages

  • Clear ability to determine test scenarios and how much testing is appropriate

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment

  • Quality-focused mindset and a genuine passion for software testing

  • Keen interest in QA discussions and workshops such as Ways of Working

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and the ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment, Proven work experience as a mid-level QA Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies and practices

  • Proven experience automating frontend UI tests and API tests, as well as experience with performance testing tools

  • ISTQB or similar software testing certification

  • Experience within a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment

  • Experience working with TypeScript or JavaScript on NodeJS and in the browser is desirable

  • Exposure to web automation frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress.js would be an advantage

  • Must be based and have the right to work in the UK

  • Ideally are close to Bristol and able to join our team day in the Bristol office once a fortnight

  • £35,000 - £45,000 per year depending on experience
