Full Job Description

The Care Leaver Local Offer Lead is responsible for creating, promoting and enhancing the Cambridgeshire Local Offer for Care Leavers. Working within the council and with partner agencies the role will ensure our statutory and discretionary offer is well publicised, understood and accessed by young people who are eligible. This will include continued development of our existing Local Offer; working in consultation with staff and our care leavers to ensure we, as an organisation are fulfilling our Corporate Parenting responsibilities to the best of our ability and negotiating new partnerships., Shortlisting for this role will take place week commencing 27th May 2024 and interviews are planned to be held week commencing 10th June 2024.
What will you be doing?

  • Educate and upskill the teams in their knowledge and understanding of the Local Offer

  • Maintain existing and develop new relationships with partners offering a range of opportunities in which care leavers may benefit

  • Prepare and present information to a range of audiences including young people, colleagues, and stakeholders

  • Identify and progress opportunities including applying for grant funding

  • Ensure the published local offer pages are maintained and updated, Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self-organised peer support groups help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. We collect relevant diversity data for monitoring as part of the recruitment process to understand the diversity of our applicants and monitor any trends throughout the recruitment processes so that we can take meaningful action.

    You must have a minimum of an NVQ level 3/A levels relevant qualifications.


  • You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the specific issues faced by young people who have experienced care.

    You will need to have strong communication skills, interpersonal and advocacy skills and be able to present information in different formats, as is suitable for the audience.

    You will have the ability to work collaboratively to achieve improved outcomes.

    You will have knowledge of the relevant legislation and policies that relate to care leavers.

    The successful candidates must be willing to travel around and outside the Cambridgeshire Local authority areas (Travelling is essential to this role).
