Full Job Description
The selected candidate will perform their role as Junior Research Scientist in a research and development environment, contributing to the development of the company. Apart from developing the ensilication technology, the role includes day-to-day laboratory duties, such as contributing to H&S matters, equipment/asset registers, equipment sourcing/set-up, utilising specialised equipment, writing SOPs and running analytical instrumentation. This role has flexible working hours with occasional early starts and/or late finishes.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our talented, multidisciplinary, diverse start-up team. The ideal candidate will have an excellent work ethic, uphold high professional standards, have a keen eye for detail, perform well under pressure and maintain clear communication with management and other stakeholders.,
- BSc or MSc in Immunology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or other relevant area
- Minimum 1 year experience in biotech or similar industry
- Right to live and work in the UK
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice
- Experience using biochemical methods such as SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA, protein assay
- Experience with spectrochemical methods such as FT-IR, UV-vis, Circular Dichroism and DLS
- Understanding of physical and materials chemistry or immunology and molecular biology
- Experience using silica-based materials or electron microscopy
- Experience performing long term stability studies and report writing
- Demonstrable (effective) communication skills
- Excellent documentation skills
Ensilicated Technologies Ltd (EnsiliTech) is increasing their research and development activities focused on stabilising biologicals using their patented ensilication method. EnsiliTech is a young spin-out from the University of Bath, working on making biologicals thermally stable outside the cold-chain using an award winning, patented ensilication technology.
