Full Job Description

  • To be responsible for School wide IT provision working with IT support provider.

  • To Investigate, devise and implement new technologies with support from IT support provider.

  • To support the management and maintenance of the IT Network in and around school.

  • To maintain all ICT equipment in school, including but not limited to servers, desktops, workstations,

  • Apple Macs, Smart Boards, projectors and laptops.
  • Co-ordinate school's use of signing in system and MIS.

  • Undertake PAT testing for computers and other equipment including maintaining Asset Register and

  • safety records for statutory purposes.
  • To manage the school 'Computer on Wheels' provision including booking system, delivery to

  • classrooms and technical support.
  • To keep the staff phone, room, and job role list up to date.

  • Maintain and develop the schools IT knowledge base and aid in developing NBHS in the use of future

  • technologies
  • Manage safeguarding and filtering software to identify any technical issues or safeguarding concerns.


  • General Responsibilities:

  • Perform specialist one-time tasks to develop and implement solutions to specific school problems to

  • meet requirements of the school, such as devising specific software solutions for teaching needs.
  • Provide regular audits of school equipment and current condition to better manage and sustain school

  • equipment.
  • Assist in managing school network by maintaining and ensuring the smooth running of it and its

  • associated equipment.
  • Be responsible for installation, maintenance and first line support and repairs of ICT hardware and

  • networks, escalating to IT support provider as appropriate.
  • Manage schools corporate and guest wireless networks and access.

  • To keep abreast of developments in the field of ICT and undertake research as appropriate.

  • To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job role,

  • participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and
    training.
  • Provide technical support for the school website., Provide technical support for remote access to school network, provide 24/7 access for students & staff

  • to school resources & documents securely (Including MIS System).
  • Carry out regular housekeeping to ensure that staff and students can access files effectively.

  • Monitor printing and usage liaising with School Business Manager (SBM) & Finance Officer, analysing

  • trends and usage throughout financial year.
  • Assist with the exam process including user logins and relevant software.

  • Provide ICT technical support and training to ensure that the school administration and curriculum can

  • be delivered effectively.
  • Advise on availability of ICT equipment, preparing and setting up as required across the school.

  • Ensure that ICT equipment complies with safety standards and all legislation.

  • Liaise with all external support agencies, suppliers and other third parties as required to manage the

  • schools IT.
  • Ensure all software including security and safeguarding is enabled and up to date.

  • Manage the schools bell system, evacuation system and PA system.

  • Advise teachers, support staff and students on the use of software and hardware including technical

  • and specialist information.
  • Provide training opportunities to aid in delivery of lessons and activities on ad-hoc basis.

  • Provide training to other technical staff on new technologies or methods to better deliver services for

  • the school.
  • Investigate and exploit opportunities to improve the running of the Schools IT, both for users and

  • backend operations.
  • Carry out installation, maintenance and first line repairs of ICT hardware and networks.

  • Liaise with Hardware Disposal and other collection services to ensure safe disposal and collection.

  • Ensure that regular backups are being taken, monitored and tested for all relevant systems with

  • adequate disaster recovery measures in place.
  • Provide technical support with regard to printers/copiers and print management.

  • Assist the IT support provider with MIS technical management and development.

  • Assist with support of ClassCharts, Inventry System, Microsoft applications and various other software

  • used by the school.
  • Provide annual and ad-hoc reports to SBM.

  • Aid with school-wide equipment safety checks.

  • Assist nominated staff in reviewing CCTV footage, system logs and exporting video evidence as

  • necessary.
  • Deal with occasional issues outside of usual working hours when IT issues arise.

  • Aid with parents' evenings and other school events outside of usual working hours on an occasional

  • ad-hoc basis.

  • Such other duties as may be commensurate with grade of the posting to ensure the smooth running

  • of the school.

    We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed IT Technician to actively support the school with
    our IT provision alongside our external IT support provider.

    The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and will be able to readily engage and support
    staff and young people. They will be a strong team player with a solution focused approach whilst
    demonstrating initiative and the ability to work alone., English/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy to Working in a school/college environment
    at least Level 2 of National Qualification
    framework.
    Experience of dealing with confidential information
    Working and supporting learners in an and an understanding of data protection legislation
    educational environment.
    Up to one year's experience working in a Received training relevant to the post

    technical support role, including network support
    & administration.

    Experience of using systems including windows
    desktop, windows server and active directory
    Professional Knowledge And Understanding

    Knowledge of both general and specific ICT Knowledge of school systems
    health and safety issues relating to work for both
    self and all potential users. Experience of cloud based IT operations and print
    solutions
