If so, we have an opportunity for you to become our Finance Manager, HQ Functions, based in either London, Birmingham, or Bristol.

As a crucial member of the Openreach Central Finance team, you will be responsible for the financial controllership of HQ Functions, including Corporate Affairs, Finance, HR, Learning & Development, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Strategy, and Corporate Governance.

With an Opex Budget of approximately £80m, capital expenditure of around £5m, and a workforce of about 600 full-time equivalents, you will provide essential business partnering support to business unit Managing Directors and their senior leadership teams to drive transformative change and manage financial performance.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Take ownership of all aspects of HQ Functions accounting, control, reporting, and forecasting. This includes overseeing the annual MTP planning cycle, collaborating with HQ senior leadership teams to identify and underpin opportunities for value creation and cost transformation.

  • Ensure that Openreach HQ functions not only meet but exceed operational and financial targets. This involves maintaining a robust understanding of business performance and implementing collaborative interventions when necessary.

  • Provide comprehensive reporting and insights to business unit Managing Directors and their Senior Leadership teams, facilitating key judgments.

  • Offer commercial and financial support for business cases within the HQ Functions, aligning with broader Openreach objectives.

  • Foster greater commercial awareness across the HQ Functions, emphasising consistency in governance and controls, as well as promoting strong accountability.

  • Champion continuous improvement and leverage BT's investment in SAP and associated tools. This aims to simplify, automate, and enhance the effectiveness and accuracy of key reporting and processes.

    Are you diligent with the ability to translate complex data at a rapid pace?

  • Are you a qualified accountant with strong SAP knowledge and experience?

  • Do you possess Business Partnering experience along with excellent stakeholder management skills?, Be a qualified accountant with substantial SAP knowledge and experience.

  • Possess highly numerate and accurate financial, analytical, and reasoning skills.

  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate across the Executive team, ensuring alignment with the medium to long-term vision of Openreach.

  • Exhibit effective communication skills, capable of delivering powerful, clear, and concise messages. This includes explaining business performance to audiences at all levels, both within finance and across various departments, using supporting data and analysis at the appropriate level of detail.

  • Function as a leader and coach within your team and beyond, offering in-depth knowledge and advice in your specialist area.

  • Embrace a pragmatic team player approach, adept at holding others accountable through a challenging yet supportive style. Consistently deliver on commitments.

  • Champion, and manage conflicting priorities, taking ownership of the successful delivery of key organisation-wide finance programs.

  • Set agendas, identify opportunities, and promote the highest standards of best practices in your area(s) of specialisation.
