Full Job Description
Assiting with the provision of technical support to the Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre for performances, shows, bookings, and events, as well as providing technical assistance across other Newport Live venues as may be required
Operational responsibilities will include:
Installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical equipment for all stage productions, visiting shows, our cinema, and other conferences and hired events
Ensuring the safe and efficient set up and running of productions and events, maintaining consistently high production values
Moving sets and properties pre, during and post performances
Carrying out stage, lighting, sound, cinema, and maintenance duties as and when required
Working to tight technical schedules in accordance with set performance deadlines
Providing any necessary technical services for visiting companies, conferences and hired events
Ensuring all technical areas are kept clean and tidy, and in line with health and safety requirements, at all times
Collaborating with other departments to promote and ensure safe working environments and a positive health and safety culture for all
Acting as an ambassador for Newport Live in accordance with our Values, Code of Conduct, and relevant policies
Any other tasks that may be identified and delegated as necessary, to ensure the safe and efficient running of the technical team
Hold a recognised qualification in a technical field or have significant experience of working in a technical/theatre environment (Relevant Level 6 (Degree) qualification on the Credit and Qualifications for Wales)
City and Guilds 2365 (Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations) - Desirable
Working at height, Telescope Training, Ipaf - Desirable
Practical Pyrotechnics - Safety awareness Certification - Desirable
Knowledge, skills and competencies
Thorough understanding of the technical procedures required to operationally run a theatre and arts centre
Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
Skilled in the safe use of basic hand tools and power tools, including But not limited to Electrical screwdrivers, rigger tools, Drills, impact drivers and Electrical test meters
Can operate and programme a wide range of lighting desks including ETC Eos family desks and software And / Or Can operate and programme Digital Sound Desk and equipment including Yamaha, Allen and heath and D&B R1
Experience
Working in a technical role within a theatre or community group
Operating lighting, stage, and sound equipment in a professional theatre environment
Providing a high level of customer care
Dante Sound Networking - Desirable
Operating computerised lighting systems - Desirable
Networking and Concert Software - Desirable
AV equipment, set up and operation - Desirable
Operation of digital Cinema Systems and programming - Desirable
Stage Management within a range of different events - Desirable

Be self-motivated, ensuring a proactive approach whenever possible
Good interpersonal skills; building effective relationships across all levels
Confident to work alone with minimum supervision

Newport Live's Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre ('The Riverfront') is a lively centre, based in the heart of Newport, overlooking the River Usk. Our vision 'Inspiring Happier Healthier' aims to bring as much of the community as possible into contact with creativity and the arts, through professional performances, workshops, and film screenings.
We are Newport's only professional presenting theatre and arts centre, with two theatre spaces, a visual arts gallery space, basement, dance studio, recording studio, workshop rooms, conference room, and a licenced café with outdoor terrace. Our popular line ups including our annual festive Pantomime, and the fantastic Big Splash summer event.
As an Arts Council of Wales 'Arts Portfolio Wales' venue, the Riverfront has a vital role in developing a high quality and ambitious cultural offer in Newport and the surrounding communicates. We present a diverse cross art form programme throughout the year, from commercially focussed events to experimental and risk-taking work, which supports the professional development of artists living in Wales.
Flexibility to work around performance times, which can involve late nights, weekends, and bank holidays
Hold a full UK Driving Licence - Desirable
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 - 37 per week
